Saxony Chemicals represents Munzing Chemie Gmbh based in Germany for their comprehensive range of coated waxes, micronized waxes, wax dispersions and emulsions. These surface additives are used in various industries such as wood coatings, industrial coatings and printing inks.
BP3
The UV-Absorber 2-Hydroxy-4-Methoxy Benzophenone (BP-3) is used extensively in the production of Polyesters, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride and methacrylate polymers. These specialised additives are imported from leading global manufacturers and supplied to the coatings industry.
DCOFA
Dehydrated Castor Oil Fatty Acid (DCOFA) is used in the manufacture of high solid alkyds as well as acrylic and epoxy ester resins. DCOFA “H” Grade is imported directly from the manufacturer and supplied to these industries in South Africa.
Statsafe™ Anti-Static Additives
During filling, splashing, filtering or even stirring of non-conductive solvents (such as xylene, toluene and aromatic white spirits) this static electrical charge can accumulate and be released in the form of a spark leading to fires and explosions even when efficient earthing systems are in place.
Industry standards are recommending the use of Anti-Static Additives (ASA’s) such as Statsafe™ to reduce electrostatic hazards. Increasing the conductivity of non-conductive solvents to the recommended level of above 10,000 pS/m can assist in preventing static related incidents protecting manufacturing equipment in a number of industries including paints, adhesives, aluminium foil rolling and lubricants.
